Dummy camera with a flashing LED and a built-in solar panel! A very faithful replica of the original camera, complete with imitation IR LEDs and a red LED. It is crafted with high-quality materials and attention to detail. The whole thing looks very realistic—even a camera installer with years of experience wouldn’t be able to tell if it’s a real camera or a dummy. Thanks to the solar panel, you don’t have to worry about batteries, as they’ll be charged daily by the panel (power source: solar panel, or additional AA batteries not included in the set). Flashing red LED (light-emitting diode) LED (light-emitting diode)—a semiconductor optoelectronic device that emits radiation in the visible, infrared, and ultraviolet light spectrums. In our dummy, it is used to further enhance the effectiveness of the dummy itself. The flashing LED element draws attention by catching the eye. This solution is particularly effective at night or in dark rooms. Housing material: ABS (poly(acrylonitrile-co-butadiene-co-styrene)) is a plastic produced through the polymerization of butadiene and the copolymerization of acrylonitrile with styrene, followed by the grafting of the resulting copolymer onto polybutadiene. It is an amorphous plastic. Density: 1.05 g/cm³. High impact strength, hardness, and scratch resistance. This is precisely the material used in the production of our mock-up, as evidenced by its high scratch resistance and suitability for outdoor use, where the mock-up is exposed to the elements. Imitation IR (infrared) LEDs Infrared (infrared radiation) (IR) is electromagnetic radiation with wavelengths between visible light and radio waves. This corresponds to a range from 780 nm to 1 mm. Infrared is used in night vision. Infrared LED light is used at night and in dark rooms; thanks to it, cameras can capture images in challenging lighting conditions. In our dummy, these are exact replicas of real IR LEDs. Built-in Solar Panel A solar cell, photovoltaic cell, photoelectric cell, or photocell is a semiconductor device in which the energy of solar radiation (light) into electrical energy as a result of the photovoltaic effect—that is, through the use of a p-n semiconductor junction, in which photons with energy greater than the semiconductor’s bandgap excite the material. In our mock-up, the solar panel serves two purposes: as a charger if rechargeable batteries are connected, and as a power source for the LED if the amount of light is sufficient for that purpose.

What Is a Dummy Camera Used For? Dummy cameras are preventive devices designed to deter intruders and potential thieves. They resemble real cameras in appearance but do not generate or transmit video footage. In places where installing a CCTV system is not cost-effective, dummy cameras are an excellent solution (studies show that the mere presence of a dummy camera can effectively deter a thief). Dummy cameras with a red LED are the most effective (the LED makes the dummy more visible, especially at night, in basements, garages, and warehouses). Our dummy camera also features a solar panel that powers the LED and, when rechargeable batteries are connected, charges them, ensuring operation at night. This is a very practical solution because you don’t have to worry about replacing the batteries when they run out.
