stage TC/CC/CV charging process and an LCD display. It charges 1–4 Li
ion cells rated at 3.6 / 3.7 V, as well as Ni-MH cells of any capacity in the following sizes: AAA/R03, AA/R6, 10440, 14500, 14650, 16340, 17500, 17670, 18350, 18500, 18650, and 18700. The two outer channels can charge batteries in the following sizes: R14, R20, 20700, 21700, 22650, 25500, 26650, and 32650.The backlit LCD display on the Xtar VC4 charger shows real
off voltage (typically 2.5 V for Li
ion, 0.9 V for Ni-MH) and insert it into the VC4 charger. Once charging is complete, the display shows the amount of charge used to recharge the battery. This value will always be 3–5% higher than the battery’s actual capacity. This is because the battery charging process is never 100% efficient; that is, charging the battery requires a slightly larger charge than the cell’s actual capacity would suggest.The maximum charging current is 1A and is available only for the two outer channels and only when the middle channels are not in use. Batteries in the middle channels are always charged at 0.5A. When charging 3 or 4 batteries, the VC4 charges all of them at 0.5A. The Xtar VC4 charger features a function to revive deeply discharged cells and cells with a voltage of 0V. Many chargers on the market are unable to charge such batteries. This is where the Xtar VC4 charger comes in, as it can often “rescue” such cells. Simply insert the deeply discharged battery into the VC4 charger, just as you would for normal charging—the charger will detect the discharged cell and attempt to reactivate it. Warning! Cells discharged below a certain level suffer irreversible damage, and reactivation may not be possible. Avoid over
discharging Li
ion and Ni-MH batteries—this can significantly reduce their lifespan and capacity or render them completely inoperable. The Xtar VC4 charger comes with a USB cable. A power adapter is not included in the set. To power the charger, any charger with a USB cable—such as one from a phone—or a USB port, or a computer with an available USB port will suffice. The recommended USB power output is 2.1A (2100mA). It is possible to use a lower
current power supply; the VC4 will adjust the charging current to match the power source’s capabilities
